Grenfell review

The Phase 2 Grenfell Tower Inquiry Report (the “Inquiry”) was released on 4 September 2024 principally setting out recommendations on how to reform the Construction Industry to ensure tragedies such as Grenfell never happen again. With the Phase 1 Report identifying combustible cladding panels as being the primary cause of fire spread, the Phase 2 Report explores why these materials were permitted to be used. The Inquiry has been comprehensive in its approach to untangling the web of blame between the organisations involved in the works and has made over 50 recommendations for the Government to consider.

Devonshires has disseminated the key recommendations which may have the most impact on Registered Providers, Accountable Persons and Principle Accountable Persons into a short note, commenting briefly on their likely impact on the industry. It remains to be seen how and when the Government will effect the changes recommended by the Inquiry.
