We have seen the Government's focus shift to regeneration in recent months, which is welcomed. Michael Gove has spoken about building more homes in London but as we all know, developing brownfield land is complex: the planning process is difficult and expensive to navigate, developments can take time to get going due to third party rights of neighbouring landowners, rights of light and infrastructure already in place. What is missing from the speech is the prioritisation of housing the most vulnerable. Adequate funding and resources must be dedicated to support the construction of sustainable, energy efficient, quality affordable housing.
