The long-awaited Procurement Act 2023 finally received Royal Assent on 26 October 2023.
The Cabinet Office has said that it plans to bring the Act into force in October 2024, and that six months' prior notice will be given so that there is enough time for public authorities and suppliers to the public sector to prepare for implementation.
A copy of the Act can be accessed here.
The Government Commercial Function will be running a learning and development programme on the new legislation between now and when the Act comes into force. Details of this can be found here.
Various pieces of secondary legislation are also due to be brought into effect in October 2024 to implement certain elements of the Act's new procurement regime. This secondary legislation is currently in draft form, and we will be providing further updates on the content of this in due course, between now and the implementation date.
